Sahil Philip
Project Associate, NHA
Prior to joining IIC, Sahil worked with an NGO focused on maternal and child health in rural Madhya Pradesh. His primary focus was on a malnutrition project to improve the identification and management of malnourished children in a panchayat area. During this time, Sahil forged close connections with frontline ASHA and Anganwadi workers, who molded his understanding of what development truly meant. It is also in MP that he realised that he makes some horrible, horrible food.
Driven by a passion for research, Sahil has also explored the impact of migration on maternal health outcomes. In this role, he documented stories, outlined them into a research project, and grappled with the humbling realization of his limitations in fully supporting those around him.
Following his time in Madhya Pradesh, Sahil moved to Mumbai to work with a newly established collaborative platform focused on climate action. Here he worked on Conservation and Restoration projects where he collaborated with diverse stakeholders to develop cohesive strategies that link biodiversity conservation with climate resilience and ecosystem restoration.
Outside of work, Sahil dabbles in intentional leisure, including skateboarding, chess, and winemaking—pursuits in which he has recently discovered he’s not as terrible as he once thought.
